The interdisciplinary minor in Ancient Civilization introduces students to the 历史, 文学, 艺术, 哲学, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome.
Students explore the world of the Greeks and Romans by reading primary texts in 英语 translation and by studying their 艺术 and archaeological remains. Studying the Latin or Greek languages is 不是必需的.
The program is recommended for students in any major who want to learn about the ancient world in a coherent program without committing to language study.

The minor consists of six courses (18 credits or more), two required and four electives.

- One broad gauge course in the Greek world: either CLAS 1186 Greek Civilization, 或class2205希腊历史
- One broad gauge course in the Roman world: either CLAS 2262 The City of Rome, 或CLAS 2206罗马史

The four electives may be chosen from various offerings in the areas of 文学, 哲学, 历史, 艺术, 和宗教, taught in Classics and other dep艺术ments. However, courses in the Greek and Latin languages 不 normally count for the minor.
